I started the 1st Chapter at Ft Gordon Ga (President), Started USAWOA in the Panama Canal Zone (President), Started one at Ft McClellan, Al,(President) then later on the BOD as Southeast Region Director. In all those years trying to form a chapter the most asked question was "What's in it for me"?? Trying to tell them if we worked together as a team there was no greater cause than to do what we can do to change the image of the Warrant Officer and also bring in new idea for the US Army as a whole. Looked what ""WE"" have accomplished in 36 years. The leadership we saw in DON HESS was what made us all want to do everything we can to make this USAWOA work and it has and I am proud to have been a small part in what the USAWOA is today. | Comments: | Looking over the web site it is nice to see that Warrant Officers are now receiving some type of initial training. I was a cross service (Air Force to Army) appointee in Dec. 1966. I was immediately assigned to the 93d Signal in Darmstadt germany from Seville Spain. Knew little or nothing about the Army organization, guard mounts, vehicle mounted communication vans and living in the field. I was immediately put on all duty officer rosters and expected to perform as a veteran officer. At the time I didn't feel like one. The technical aspect of telecommunications and Comsec were virtually the same and that I had been well trained in by the Air Force. Most young soldiers thought Warrant Officers were aviators and no effort was ever made on the part of the command structure to expain our little niche in the general frame of things. On Oct 31st, 43 years later I will travel to Ft Hood to welcome my unit the 303rd MI Bn, the longest serving active duty MI unit home from Iraq. During their current tour I was able to support them through morale packages sent through AAFES. I still feel in some way a member of the units I served with. | Comments: | I believe that the promotion from CW2 to CW3 Should be short by a year. if 2LT are getting promoted to CPT in 4 year why shouldn’t we the quiet professional get the same treatment. that just my overview on this, a WO1 does more then a 2LT does in his whole lifetime, and now they expect us WO1 to do the company XO jobs because, the LT gets to do there career fields. and on top of that WO1 wont get rated as a XO because the battalion commander refuses to an knowledge warrant officer as a XO. so this is very wrong and unfair to a brand new warrant. I am UAS Tech and I have been the XO for 15 months and wont get rated as one, Our brigade just lost the most senior warrant officer who use to look out for the young warrant career progression, I will be pinning on CW2 in march and I have 18years of active serves and I had to step up to defend our warrant in many debates in our brigade. I just feel that I need some guide from senior warrants to solve some of these issues. I need help guys. Mr. |

I started the 1st Chapter at Ft Gordon Ga (President), Started USAWOA in the Panama Canal Zone (President), Started one at Ft McClellan, Al,(President) then later on the BOD as Southeast Region Director. In all those years trying to form a chapter the most asked question was "What's in it for me"?? Trying to tell them if we worked together as a team there was no greater cause than to do what we can do to change the image of the Warrant Officer and also bring in new idea for the US Army as a whole. Looked what ""WE"" have accomplished in 36 years. The leadership we saw in DON HESS was what made us all want to do everything we can to make this USAWOA work and it has and I am proud to have been a small part in what the USAWOA is today.
